The Aquameter Galaxy compass was the largest compass manufactured by Aquameter. The clear dome of the Galaxy compass measures 5-3/8" in diameter. The Galaxy was manufactured originally by the Aquameter Co. until the company was sold to Rule Industries and then manufactured under the Danforth name. Most of the replacement parts are still available and it is still a very serviceable compass. If your Galaxy does not look as nice as this one that was just repaired in 2006 then maybe it is time to send it to Viking Instruments. Click on the pictures to get a close-up look at the fine detail work that you can expect from Viking Instruments.
The standard overhaul on the Galaxy is $395.00, which includes complete disassembly, cleaning, replacement clear dome, gaskets, diaphram, oil and a two year warranty. Replacement parts to the gimbals, lighting and return shipping are extra. Turn around time is typically two weeks from the time that we receive your approval to proceed. Be sure to include a daytime telephone number in the box with the compass so we can contact you as soon as your compass arrives.
In January 2010 Viking Instruments purchased the entire inventory of Galaxy compass parts as well as the tooling to continue to manufacture replacement parts from Rule Industries. Viking Instruments is the exclusive manufacturer and disributer of replacement Galaxy compass parts and service.
